Less jargon, more business

We know you don’t necessarily want to know all the ins-and-outs of online payment gateways. But you do want to know that it works securely and consistently. So here’s a simple guide to online payments

Step 1

Checkout

Your customer, known as the 'Cardholder', places items in their basket, proceeds to the checkout and enters their card details (e.g. Visa) on your site. In this process you are referred to as the 'Merchant'.

Step 2

Payment contact

morphpay Payment Gateway then contacts your bank to request them to process the transaction via your 'Merchant Account'.

Step 3

Card request

Your bank, known as the 'Acquiring Bank', contacts the relevant card network (e.g. Visa) to request funds from the customer's account.

Step 4

Bank request

The card network in turn contacts the customer's bank, referred to as the 'Issuing Bank', to request the funds.

Step 5

Funds authorised

All fraud checks passed and transaction authorised. Funds sent back via the same route. This entire process usually takes less than 1 second!
